A jewellery group wanted to do something most luxury brands never attempt: speak directly to the Chinese consumer — not with approximations of Chinese culture, but from inside it.
Fortune was conceived as a sub-brand. Separate identity. Separate soul. Designed specifically for Malaysian and Singaporean Chinese women who wear fine jewellery not as occasion pieces, but as daily armour — quiet, personal, and meaningful.
They came to Seji Design for one reason: our team understands this customer from the inside.
“Red, in Chinese culture, is not a colour. It is a declaration — of luck, of life, of the belief that beauty should bring blessings with it.”
The Thinking
The first question was not what should this look like. It was what should this feel like to a Chinese woman picking it up for the first time.
Red shaped everything. In Chinese culture, it carries luck, prosperity, and intention — so we made it the brand’s foundation, not an accent.
The Chinese name came next. We developed 福映 — Fú Yìng — two characters chosen for how they sound together: warm, auspicious, and distinctly Chinese without feeling archaic. The kind of name a grandmother would recognise and a 28-year-old would place on her shelf without hesitation.
Most jewellery brands that attempt a Chinese aesthetic apply it like a garnish. We inverted that logic.
The Chinese seal is the brand. It goes on the pouch, the box, the door, the card. The English wordmark supports — it does not lead.
Fortune earns its English name by leading with its Chinese heart.
Colour System
Deep Fortune Red carries the cultural weight of the brand. Cream and ivory provide the canvas. Charcoal grounds the system. Gold — only ever used as a material finish on the jewellery itself — never cheapened into a brand colour.

The Results
Fortune is pre-launch. But the brief has already been answered.
Pick up the box. Read the seal. Feel the weight of the card. The brand does not announce that it understands Chinese culture. It simply is Chinese culture — refined, modern, and made for every day.
